Porter Family Cemetery

On October 11th, 2009 there was a Grave Dedication at the Porter Family Cemetery located on the Dungannon property for Co. E 22nd Virginia Calvary Regiment. When he died in 1909, he was not given a proper burial for a soldier in the Civil War.

The Cumberland Mountain Rangers Camp #1798 from Dickerson County, Virginia, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Army of Northern Virginia, Virginia Division, Sixth Brigade conducted the solemn ceremony. Members of Pvt. Porter’s family were in attendance along with many people from the surrounding area. It was a memorable day that we shall never forget. There are approximately 60 members of the Porter family buried here along with their family members.
